Remanufactured and new units are listed separately and are not interchangeable on price alone. A remanufactured alternator has had its bearings, rectifier and regulator replaced and the unit end-of-line tested; a new unit is built from new castings. Both carry the manufacturer's warranty, and the listing states which you are buying.
Before fitting a replacement alternator or starter, check the battery, the cables and the ground straps. A corroded cable will destroy a new unit within weeks, and a battery that will not hold charge will keep the charging lamp on with a healthy alternator behind it.
